Make LJ Talk able to listen to additional "standard web" ports.

The right way to handle this problem is to beat the people in charge of the firewall until they see the error of their ways. ;)

Well, it seems that GTalk, Yahoo and MSN find it more easy to open this servers to "standard web ports" rather than fight paranoiac sysadmins. To me, as an ordinary end-user, it's important to have LJ Talk running on my machine without beating the people ;-)

Making it use 80 and 443 would likely break URLs like http://livejournal.com/ and https://livejournal.com/, so probably not a good idea. 8080 might work. Not sure about FTP.

Sure it would. However nobody says that LJ Talk must use http(s)://livejournal.com/
For instance, LJ Talk server may sit on something like http://talk.livejournal.com/
