This is an interesting idea, but there is a number of details which need to be figured out, which seems to be the most difficult part here. To name a few:

1). to whom will this feature be available?
2). are we only interested to see music statistics? what about mood statistics or location statistics?

Why should LJ implement a feature that you yourself admit there are "no" benefits to?

In addition to your last point, lots of people enter things like "the crickets in front of my window". If this was to be useful, those who wanted to use it would need to enter all music in a certain template.
