I would like to be able to select a date for the transfer of gifts of LJ Gift Shop tokens to other users, much in the same way that it's possible to select a delivery date for gifts of Paid account time and virtual gifts.

I think the reason this is the way it is at the moment is because the transfer happens instantly. If it was possible to delay delivery, how could we make sure that you still had X tokens at the delivery date?

The tokens could be taken and held until delivery, but what if the account was suspended or something like that in the interim? This could create issues.

That's a good point. However, how would that be any different from, say, someone buying someone else Paid account time or a VGift, and the delivery was delayed, and the account was suspended in the meantime? What happens in those cases?

I agree with this; like with any other lj gift, it should not be hard to make tokens's deliveries be delayed at will.
