You can get prepaid Visa cards as easy as you can buy iTunes Gift Cards. Usually at the same retail outlets too.

I agree with what the other two said.

Besides, with a vast number of vendors offering cash cards, this could set a complicated precedent. I don't know what all iTunes cards allow you to purchase outside of proprietary Apple products and services, but if they were accepted as payment for LiveJournal services, then people might start requesting that Starbucks and Barnes & Noble cards and the like be accepted as payment for LiveJournal services, too. It's best, IMHO, to draw the line at regular credit cards (including prepaid cards) like VISA and Mastercard.

Looking at the back of an iTunes card right now, it states "Valid only on iTunes Store (for x country)." I'm sure this is similar for other countries.

Having a gift card for a specific retailer act as a debit/credit card would have massive costs attached to it, which are almost certainly outside of LiveJournal's budget. Additionally, Apple likely doesn't parter with other companies for this sort of thing... It be a fiscally unwise decision for Apple to pursue partnership with LiveJournal for how comparably small this network is.. Not only that, but it would take away revenue for their company from the cards that are specifically advertising Apple.

Even if this were possible, it would be a very lengthy and complicated process. We're not just talking about logins, but access to data, meetings with lawyers, rewrites of product information, privacy policies, and more...

Like lildobe said, prepaid Visa (and other credit card) gift cards are typically available for purchase where iTunes cards are sold.

Exactly the point I was trying to make, except you explained it a million times better than I could have. Plus, I've never had an iPod or iTunes or any of that other stuff, and so the additional information you were able to give on it is helpful and reinforces my belief that this suggestion is infeasible and nigh impossible to implement. Thanks for all of this!
