Regarding the advertising strategy, you may want to email feedback@livejournal.com with your thoughts about it, if you haven't already. Feedback about advertising is handled through that channel rather than this one, so your feedback will reach the appropriate people if you send it to that address.

Thanks, I was trying to find something like that to voice this complaint to.

My problem with this suggestion is that there's no suggestion as to what *should* be done, just that a change should be made. As such, I believe this whole suggestion would be better served as an email to feedback@.

Hm. While I'm not impressed with some of the Writer's Block questions either, when I look at them (like when season-related ones assume that everyone is on the Northern hemisphere), or when we get clearly US-centric-but-pretending-to-be-international questions like (around the 4th of July) "Do you celebrate your country's Independence Day?" when there are a lot of countries that don't have such a thing, I, too, don't really see what exactly it is you are suggesting, except for changing things. Which "users" will select questions? Which criteria will be used? That would be kind of interesting to know.

I'm confused. I regularly read the Writer's Block and don't recall any corporate sponsored questions. Are they stripped for the journal types that don't show ads?

Good question! I don't recall them, either (but have a Permanent Account).

(I don't think it would be a bad idea to maybe have a group who help pick the questions...)

All I know is I paid for a paid account specifically not to see any ads of any kind.
