Default security level

Short, concise description of the idea
Currently El Jay has a way to set the minimum security for a new post, which needs more granularity biased on the method of the post.

LOL. Love your problem/issues involved list.

Personally, I wouldn't use this since I always post directly from the site, but I see no potential issues beyond user confusion and user error.

I'd love this. The only reason I have not set my mini-security is because I want my emailed pictures to post publicly.

I just checked: My default entry security at http://www.livejournal.com/manage/emailpost.bml is set to Public. At http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=privacy my minimum security is set to friends. When I make a post by e-mail it is set to friends-only.
