philipp lahm doesn't really hold his tongue when something is bothering him (& frankly i feel that his criticism is always honest & unbiased). the german national team's/bayern munich's job isn't to blow steam up its own ass, it's to improve & win games. if key players are dissatisfied, or if, as he writes, the atmosphere isn't particularly welcoming to new, younger guys -- we have a problem.
he's captain, and imo he acted like one. maybe publishing his opinions in a book wasn't the absolute best way of going about it, but remember the interview he gave criticizing bayern a few years ago? i don't think the issue has anything to do with his outlet (although people will make it that), but everything to do with the fact that he had negative things to say.
