Nice, and totally about the parallels between Teyla and Elizabeth. As great as it would've been for them to have become fast friends in the beginning, I just don't see it working that way. I like this way better, that each step towards friendship was judged carefully, because they'd both erected walls for various reasons.

I think when you have two independent women like this attempting to forge some type of connection, it's hard to decide *who* would've reached out first. Maybe something happened before this that pushed Teyla into motion?

Work is slow today, so you're getting spammed.

I could possibly be remembering Elizabeth's earlier behavior incorrectly, but I never read it as though she and Teyla became fast friends. I think there was a lot of wariness on behalf of both women, but I think that distance was closed over a period of time, with other elements coming into play. Elizabeth spends more time with the flagship team in part because John is her military commander, but also because they undoubtedly spend more time getting into trouble than most (that we see).

I think Teyla would be the one to make an overture before Elizabeth because she's less about maintaining a certain standing among her people. To Elizabeth's mind, she has so much more to lose, and she's not wrong.

Was there something that happened that acted as a catalyst to this confrontation? Possibly... *g*

Oh, that was so lovely. Teyla and Elizabeth felt so *true*. That's something I don't always feel when reading fic involving either of them, but you seem to have an excellent grasp on them, and you can make me picture them really clearly. :)

Thank you very much, I appreciate you saying that. I've just recently started writing Teyla after years of trepidation of not getting her voice right, and now I finally feel as though I can hear her, which is a relief. :)

I really adored this, and I especially love your Teyla voice here. You've captured her sort of formal manner of speaking without making it a cliche.

Oh, thank you! I love Teyla, and the more I write her the closer I feel to finding the right balance of her speech pattern.
