[Maybe he's a little bit less angry, maybe he's just trying to tell himself he doesn't feel embarrassed about the way he treated Teagan the last time they met, half-hoping it would be the last one. The remaining half wondered what would happen if they found a way to run into each other once again -- if she'd want things to be different or just remind him why he holds so many grudges against her.

She can't respond, and that makes her feel hopeless, self-conscious, that she ever got herself into a position where someone could take advantage or her like that and take away something so vital, something that she always took for granted before. Staring listlessly at the ground, all she can do is raise a hand in a very feeble, meek greeting. She too is a shadow of her younger self, timid and detached. ]
