We're indulging in the solstice lights-out right now - people are turning off their lights for an hour between 9-10pm tonight to highlight energy wastage.

It's not obligatory and I don't mean to preach at you, but if you care to join in please do.

I am amused, because my 9-10pm is very different from your 9-10pm. Shall I turn out the lights between 3-4pm, I wonder? Hm, too late, already passed it.

I think the purpose is to show that you can manage up to and including that hour with natural light. I was amazed, actually. It's 10:30pm now and I've only just put on a lamp. So 9-10pm wherever you happen to be, I guess.

I shall try it, but I live in a daylight basement. So I don't get much light as it is.

Can I leave my laptop on? I bet I could get my coworkers to go for it...

Nope. No electricity. But you're welcome to save the juice wherever you can. :)

I personally missed it (it's currently 9:56), I would have done it if I saw this post earlier.

Of course you can. It's just the lights, because at this time of year it's creepy how much we really don't need them.
