...so the drive in was entertaining...the Clio does want to fly, so the merest press of the throttle and it takes off.  The weather was heavy mist, almost to the point of rain, but not quite... which looks just beautiful in Cornwall, but not road conditions that I've driven in before, plus never actually been a charge of a car with a passenger

Hooray! I've been driving for years and years and yet the first time driving in Cornwall was SO scary! Now you'll be able to drive anywhere in the world :-)
