I was also really impressed with Mara's reaction to the situation--she immediately went out to do something about this. I'm even more impressed that cast not only the kind of revenge that a man like Henry would fear the most, but one that protects the other women from the cruelty in his heart.

That was what I liked most about the story as well. Not only was Mara's solution poetic justice, it also kept Henry from repeating his crime.
I love the description of how insufferable he is, and really-- any fairytale village seems to have both of these characters. That the witch is almost always despised rather than respected would have been unjust in Mara's case.
