Mothering My Mother

I can't remember the last time I spent the night beside my Mom. Maybe not since I was a kid. She rarely let me sleep in her bed, even then. I remember a short phase I went through when I was 5 or 6, when I had bad dreams and would climb into her and dad's bed in the middle of the night for comfort. She spooned me and I immediately went peacefully ( Read more... )

All the hugs and love in the world. I'll also be awake at times when you might be. If you need a voice, another soul, anything and everything.

if you send an email to nentikobe@me.com with your #, I'll get it immediately and if I'm near a phone I can use, I'll call.

*hugs you and hugs you*

A very difficult thing, the reversal of roles: To be strong and reassuring for your mother when she has been your strength and reassurance. It is good to see you treasuring your time with her. Hang in there, Jamie. Keep doing what you are doing. Keep telling her you love her. Keep accepting her words of love. That bond between you two will never break.

My darling James,

I am so sorry to hear this pain that you are going through. As I think about this, it occurs to me that this is one of those milestones in life that marks one truly becoming a grown-up. While this is never a time that any of us want to have to go through, in some ways, it just seems to be part of that circle of life. Nothing can ever prepare you for this, but as a mother yourself now, you have the instincts to know what to do.

I wish I could be there to comfort you, hug you, hold your hand, give you a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Please know that you are in my prayers. I am a phone call, email or text away.

I feel helpless 2300 miles away, but if there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to let me know.

Much love.

Jamie I can't even imagine the roller coaster of emotions you are experiencing while watching your mom take on the fight of her life. I am pleased to hear that she is doing better although still not great. I will tell you that within the past two years I have really accepted Jesus into my life. So when I say I'm praying for your mom's health and your strength please know that I really mean it. I love you friend and feel blessed to have been chosen to help you climb this mountain.
