As travelogues go, writing about going to Walt Disney World presents some unique challenges. Star Tours is in Tomorrowland here in Disneyland. So you aren't going crazy. :)

Disney World is so much better!

Well, not going crazy about this, anyway. :)

Must be nice to have Disneyland so close by, even if it's on a less grand scale than Disney World!

I actually like Disneyland better than Disney World... at least, the Disneyland I remember from 10 years ago, can't swear it's not changed. Disney World just had more of a marketing feel to it, so much more was centered on specifically DISNEY things and characters, whereas Disneyland seemed more generically fantasy and fun oriented.

Interesting observation, and even not having been to Disneyland I'd have to agree with you that Disney World seems more overtly tied in to Disney TV and movies. I wonder, though, whether if some of that is due to the fact that back when Disneyland was built, Walt Disney was more devoted to the business of bringing classic fairy tales and similar stories (Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson, etc) to life. So a castle is not just a fairy-tale castle, but also a tie-in with a Disney film.

But now we have attractions that tie in with things like Lilo and Stitch and Monsters, Inc. You could definitely tell the newer attractions from the old by what they were based on. That, and the fact that a lot of the newer attractions relied on screens and 3D glasses for your enjoyment ( ... )
