You are certainly a lot busier (and undoubtedly more responsible) than I was when I was in college. Other than my classes, I just lounged around, living off the money I made on my summer job (as a Teamster in a steel warehouse) and student loans. I had a lot of fun, but I certainly paid for it later... I'm sorry to hear about losing your friend. It's hard when a friend and your "significant other" can't get along, but they both should be able to keep their relationship with you separate. I know that I don't like some of my wife's friends (and I'm sure some of them don't like me), so we simply don't associate. If they come over to visit, I say "Hi", then politely excuse myself to another part of the house. (Believe me, I've never been accused of being the friendliest and most genial guy in the world.) Perhaps after some time has passed she'll realize that she doesn't have to be pals with Travis to still be your friend. Anyway, good luck with your classes!
I always have this habit of taking on more than I really should. I don't think I can imagine college without having as many classes as they'll let me, and working a whole bunch of hours, and then trying to find time to breathe in between everything.
& that simply don't associate thing sounds like it works well. too bad too many people don't think that way.
