I'm sure lots of people (including me) would be happy to beta your work. I understand it can be a scary thing to do, to ask for that kind of help, and it took me a while to get up my nerve and then I wished I could pull the email back (though I'm glad I didn't as it worked out great :-) But I'm with you re how a beta can be a big help in the less technical areas, such as plot holes, characterization flaws, flow, etc.

Yes, it is. I *have* betaed a few times, when I was doing Trek fic. Of course, one time I was forced to beta a very Mary-Sue-ish Trek fic that my sister (!) was writing, but never finished (thank goodness).
