You've described their relationship so well. And this...the condescending image of the Doctor towering over him, judging him...reminds me of the Master's vision of his greatest fear in the Three era story "Mind of Evil." (Or is it supposed to?)

Oh, I'm so glad you did it on purpose! Roger Delgado is my favorite Master as well. (The chemistry between him and Jon Pertwee was -- well -- I didn't know what "slash" was back then, but I didn't need slash goggles to see that something was definitely going on there.)

Do you know about the rumor that there were plans, during the Three era, to reveal that the Doctor and Master were actually brothers?

I've heard something like that, but I don't think that was actually real. I know they definitely had planned to have the Master's storyline end with him being redeemed by sacrificing himself for the Doctor (but Delgado's death forced them to have to scrap that idea).
