my parents and i were going to visit depaul this weekend. however, due to a winter weather advisory in the chicago area, our trip has been postponed.

good thing we've already sent them money and i've never even been there.

i don't even know what i want to do anymore. chicago is so inviting, but thinking about leaving michigan terrifies me.

Kelly, you know the money isn't an issue, and you parents would LOVE to send you to Depaul. Starting new friendships at college has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. There are truly amazing people around every corner, and meeting more of them is a chance I'd never turn down. You are going to meet a lot more people when you get out of your own city and Go To A Recognized School. Please don't go to community college. You Know You are Fucking Better Than That. Katie needs to land on her own feet, you shouldn't feel like you have to be there for other people. People gotta be there for themselves. Also, do you really want everything to stay the same in your life? Complacency by definition will give you nothing. I love you more than anyone in the world; I've thought A LOT about this, and there's no other decision I could support more than your decision to go to chicago.

I never said anything about you picking a college. What i did say is that you shouldn't talk about community college if you know nothing about it. I on the other hand have been to both community college and a university. But really all this comes down to is that you shouldn't talk shit about community college because apparently you have no idea about them.

My brother went to WCC. My mom went to WCC. Obviously I have friends that go to WCC. I've sat in on classes at WCC. I've used facilities at WCC. I'm familiar with the services that WCC offers ( ... )

also, Katie (sup I am in your thread how you doing I do not know you), Depaul is an amazing school. I'm hoping to go to Loyola if I get in. Chicago is the greatest city in the country. Its so amazing, the way it had this sense of culture, sophistication and midwest laid back attitude. I don't know if you've spent a lot of time there, but I lived in Chicago for three weeks over the summer and it changed my life. I always pictured myself going to a small liberal arts college in like, Oregon or something. Then I realized that Chicago is one of the best cities in the world, yes WORLD, to get an education. even if you hate the actual school, that place won't really be your classroom anyway. Chicago is a classroom, its a college.

Do not throw that opportunity away, Katie whoever you are. Do not be afraid of the rest of your life.
