my parents and i were going to visit depaul this weekend. however, due to a winter weather advisory in the chicago area, our trip has been postponed.

good thing we've already sent them money and i've never even been there.

i don't even know what i want to do anymore. chicago is so inviting, but thinking about leaving michigan terrifies me.

Kelly, you know the money isn't an issue, and you parents would LOVE to send you to Depaul. Starting new friendships at college has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. There are truly amazing people around every corner, and meeting more of them is a chance I'd never turn down. You are going to meet a lot more people when you get out of your own city and Go To A Recognized School. Please don't go to community college. You Know You are Fucking Better Than That. Katie needs to land on her own feet, you shouldn't feel like you have to be there for other people. People gotta be there for themselves. Also, do you really want everything to stay the same in your life? Complacency by definition will give you nothing. I love you more than anyone in the world; I've thought A LOT about this, and there's no other decision I could support more than your decision to go to chicago.

You know I had to meet and entirely new group of people here, too. But it's alright. I know exactly how you feel about money, babe. That's why I'm enlisting. My parents can't afford putting me through college but they are, and it makes me really upset just writing this. So I'll join the USAFR and they'll pay for my college and my parents will have a heavy load off their shoulders.

Don't shortchange yourself. Get out into the wide world, it's waiting for a special girl just like you.
