The transition to big girl bed. It is not going smoothly or well.

I don't think she's slept in it yet.

And she keeps screaming and pounding on the door. And it is breaking my heart but she just won't sleep otherwise, and even now she's mostly screaming til she falls over behind the door. I can't help but think I'm doing this wrong.

Is the big girl bed large enough and sturdy enough so that you could take a nap in it? If so, perhaps taking a nap there with Sam closed in with you? That way the little monkey knows the bigger monkey really does think it's safe.

You know me, clueless about parenting. I'll keep making suggestions until you tell me not to, though, you never know when ignorance might prove helpful.

Nah, there is no wrong. There is just trying different things till you happen upon what works with your child. And then, trying again because something changed, and what always worked works no longer. And booze.

But I like the idea of taking a nap with her. At least it can not hurt.

I remember all this fights just too well from Oldest. This is why the younger ones got to sleep in our bed (or, to be specific, a small bed rigged to our bed) till they wanted to move. Even today they turn up in the night, and they constantly go to sleep in one of their beds together. I believe they were just not ready to sleep alone. Oldest however, had to pay the price for me to learn that. But he too, was much happier once he was allowed to sleep in our bed.
I know that a family bed does not work for everybody, but for us it was the solution.
