A/N: I normally don't like to split up chapters but the way my job is, with the hours I keep, it'll take me a bit longer to finish this chapter than I wanted it to, so I decided to put up a bit of the next chapter so you can see I haven't forgotten nor abandoned this, life just decided to get really hectic really quickly ( Read more... )

I have to remind myself, that their time together was only a short while. Just a summer fling doesn't feel the appropriate way to describe it, but at the same time it does. They were both so young, and the feelings all encompassing, but with decades past their is plenty of time for reflection. They've both come to realize what it was and it still has meaning. This chapter leaves me with a feeling of sadness for the both of them. How the relationship ended so abruptly and they never had the opportunity for closure. The only reason why they are getting the chance now is because of Maureen's illness. It's such a sad love story, even though I know how it all ends, and it's rather realistic it's still very melancholy. Good job!

Wow. Lots of detail in this one.

Romance or not lost years show in people's faces, postures, and everything else. It's weird to sit down and talk to someone after a quarter century, but still know each other well enough to converse comfortably after the initial wobbly feeling of first meeting again. This story illustrates perfectly how important closure is, even from standing outside a situation looking in.

It's a long time to wait for closure, and the regret never goes away.

Trying to recap ones life after so many years is tough, and the questions and answers come slowly. To explain to someone how your life has gone while you've been apart is nearly impossible... and this situation is even worse with the sickness being the catalyst for a renewed communication.

Fantastic, and heart wrenching. ugh. Excellent job. (and thanks for some NELL info!)
