I hate the term "atheist" since its premise and its structure are anti-god. I don't believe in god but I don't believe in Santa either. I am not an asantist and I am not an atheist. neither am I a abigfootist or aunicornist. Why is god the default position?

athiesm, interesting-quote, god

Well, the answer is probably historical - belief in some form of "God" has been a common thread throughout history. Of course, if we were being precise it would be the recorded part of it, which granted is only a small part of human history, blah blah.

As to the term itself, particularly in Europe not believing in God was a big crime, certainly worthy of a word - much more so than abigfootist :-)

True, but I don't think whoever made that comment was questioning the origin of the word itself, was more of a rhetoric I think.

(smiley came out by default, sorry. sounded f***ing condescending when I read it again)

>smiley came out by default

I hear you, smileys are default :-) It wasn't condescending in the slightest, have come to generally disregard the apparent tone of anything written in emails, blogs etc anyways.

Did you even read the subject of the post? :| I didn't say that.. I just quoted it.

Anyways, that was exactly the guy's point, athiest sounds anti-god and not like 'don't believe in god'. You make God the center and divide the world into 'with him' or 'against him'... somewhat like Bush.

how come you're never online anymore?

heh...I'm being selfish of course, I get about 10 mins before I begin my day to chat while I'm drinking coffee, that's between 7.30 and 8.00 am here (would be 7.00-7.30 pm there) when I look for potential targets. *hint* *hint* and sometimes between 12.30-1.00 pm (here).
