Erlkönig - Inspirations

Sep 14, 2007 01:03

So ... I know I have long promised to post some more about Erlkönig ... so, I'll start with the germ of the fic, in my head.

The Goethe poem and Schubert song I hope I referenced clearly enough in the author's notes. But I had known those for many years. What then, was the catalyst?

I'll tell you what:

Ah, now see, that's what made me love your story in the first place: hints of Oberon, shades of fae. I've never seen a production of Midsummer produced to my satisfaction and I can't tell you how much it makes my hands and head and creative little soul *twitch* looking at some of those photos. The one of Oberon with the moon behind him... so close ( ... )

Dear Lord, when I saw that first photo I was convinced it was a photo manipulation!

Nice post, and a very nice play to use for your inspiration. There's too many of those annoying, brain dead humans running about being enchanted all the time as opposed to the Titania and Oberon banter I like it for, but it's still excellent :).

Some of those Oberon's are funny to look at, the biker version reminds me of a charecter from the Terminator and the one with the blue skin reminds me of a Hindu god whose face I memorized after too many mind distortingly dull RE lessons.

I look forward to more!

Hey, Andi Scribbles here! *waves*

First of all, I've got to say I was in awe of how anyone could capture such emotion and get me hooked like that on a fic... I was completely confused. I mean, what quality does a writer have to possess to create, to enthrall, and to weave words and ideas together like that into something almost living.

Now I get it.

You have the ability to do *that* right up there. You take art in its different forms-- music, visual art, even subconcious undertones... and polish them, wrap them up, and ship them into a word document to convey all the feeling of living that art ourselves. It's amazing, and I know it'll help you write wonderfully for the rest of your life. *is completely jealous*

Anyway, I could definately see from all those roles and pictures and music where you picked up our Erlkonig. Depraved, seductive, elusively ethereal... spot on :)
