Fandom: SPN AU, het. Jo/Dean, Jo/OMC.
Rating: PG-13: for underage, post-pubescent kissin'.
Spoilers: No.
Notes: Just cleaning out the WIP folder here, don't mind me. 3400 hundred words. AND HET. I KNOW. DON'T DISOWN ME. I don't know how old Jo's supposed to be, relatively, in canon, so call this an alternate alternate universe. Mistakes are my own ( Read more... )

Here via vinylroad's rec.

Great "What If" story. I love the style. I love how you told this from Jo's POV. I love your Bill too. It's hard to find stories where he's written well because we don't know anything about him, but yours was just fine.

I love little Sammy and how both Dean and Jo try to take care of him. Dean here was a scary mo-fo even at 15.

I love the quieter moments with Dean/Jo/Sam in the woods and at the river too, but then that ending when Dean goes away to start hunting, like Jo, I also noticed the line that was suddenly drawn.

Everyone hugs, even Jo's ma and dad. It's a ritual, a charm of safekeeping, necessary.
Great imagery.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much - I'm really glad you liked Bill, father/daughter relationships are always a little tough to get a handle on, but I gave it a try. And thank YOU for commenting.

Holy CRAP. There's a sudden rash of Jo-related AUs, or maybe I just never noticed before, but anyway I'm loving them, and this one pretty much knocked me on my ass. How completely dark and dry and desolate, and I just ACHED for Ellen here, and WOW extended metaphor. Nice job. *adds to memories*

Oh man, thank you! While I kind of feel for fandom's love/hate split, I still wish Kripke would've stood by her as a sound character choice. She has a lot of potential, and they really could have done some awesome stuff with her. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to see what fandom's done. Actually, have you found any favourites in particular - I squirm at the thought of wading through Dean/Jo comms. :/

This is simply fantastic. You had me from the very beginning--intrigued by your AU and your style--and somehow you managed to pull me in closer and closer but so subtly I didn't even notice how utterly caught up I was in this fic until it ended.

Simply wonderful characterizations; Jo is engaging and even though it is centered on her, the other character feel real and alive as well.

Superb job.

Thanks very much! I'm glad the other characters snuck in there, the story was very much about Dean for me, even though Jo for once got some attention.

Oh, wow. This is gorgeous and heart-breaking. AUs are like that: we love these characters so much, so we push them to see how else we can hurt them. Here, Jo kept her father and Dean kept his mother, and it still didn't get better.

Lovely messy unspoken pain. And I love the prosaic nature of their poverty: they make do, but it's not easy.

Wow, thanks! You really hit the nail on the head, for me. I was very much interested in the realities of what it would be like to have something closer to a regular childhood, and how much harder it would be to be given the taste of normalcy, but not the follow-through. I'm really glad that it came through for you.
