fic: Five things that Rome has done

Feb 21, 2011 13:54

Guys, I saw the gayest slavefic this weekend. Like, so gay. Just the gayest. I hope that the next time they film a Billy Elliott/Step Up crossover AU they do some actual makeouts instead of just eyefucking, tho. NOTE TO CHANNING TATUM: We all know your dick has not totally scalded off, so pls to use it on Jamie Bell, who loves you ( Read more... )

I love this. Oooh, I love it. The way their relationship is STILL so tense and not-really-sure. The way it perhaps should have been in the movie, rather than "oh happy day let's tie up our loose ends and go make love" (though that's all right too XD). I will read this again. Often.

Thank you! I'm so glad that this filled that need, for you. Although, I also can't resist the ok-let's-just-bang endings, obvs. :)))

His silence was not deferential, but defiant. His obedience was a form of resistance.

Oh, this is great.

This is beautifully fraught with all the tension and emotion and violence that the movie hinted at with these two. I love that Esca rarely ever gives way to Marcus, that Marcus bends to Esca, and I truly adore the notion that Esca defies by obeying because it is so perfectly put. I also adore your version of Esca: mysterious to Marcus, but you can sense the seething roil of emotions beneath his skin if you just pay attention. And the way Marcus falls apart underneath him, even as he tries to fight him, is an amazing, hot surrender.

I love everything they say and do not say to each other throughout this story, the way they push and pull at each other with violence and tenderness, and those last two lines just squeezed my heart so tightly. ♥

Oh crap. Thank you. You have no idea. You actually just made me re-evaluate and maybe even like this story, which has been harassing me all weekend and refusing to work properly and requiring roughly 18.5 rewrites. But the way you describe it makes it actually sound well-considered and worth reading!

The relief is intense, let me tell you. This comment is amazing. THANK YOU.

PS. & thank you for the rec, too! ♥_♥

I CANNOT EVEN LOOK AT YOU RIGHT NOW. Were you not psychically aware that this movie is the cruel, awful bastardization of the historical novel of my eleven year old heart?!?!!

Oh wait, I totally got my character names confused. I totally get this pairing now. And as I expected, I read this and loved it. Damn your mind powers! :)

DUDE, IF YOU DID NOT SEE THE AQUILA/ESCA OVERTONES THEN MAYBE YOU WERE READING THAT OTHER GAY SLAVE EPIC FROM THE 1950s?

I am laughing so hard at you. Who the hell did you think I was talking about? :D

I don't know! I thought it was the mean guy, Placido, whatever. Or something. I don't remember his name and I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if he's even in it! In the book he was never known as Aquila, only Marcus!

STOP LAUGHING NOW PLEASE

YESSS. All over that pairing, too, actually. Marcus would hate himself into oblivion. :>
