Great gadzooks, you posted! I can't wait to not do my job today and instead dedicate the hours of 9-5 to reading this and then composing various odes to your awesomeness.

It's gonna be a good day.

Oh, wow, this was so amazing; I loved the atmosphere of it, and the hurried, frightened way Brendon thinks, and god, this is the kind of end of the world that's going to leave me imagining for days. And also the relationship in the middle of it, oh, how much Brendon wants Ryan, and then the revelation of how hurt Ryan is, my heart. And the moment when Spencer and Ryan first see each other, arghhhhh. I don't know how you do this, but it's always amazing.

This feels kind of compressed, the focus narrowed down so it feels all the way through like something disastrous is coming, and it makes all the emotional details stick in my mind really clearly. I like Spencer and Brendon's struggling with the album and how they deal with it (or don't) and Brendon's hanging on Ryan's every word and appearance when he might not actually be the wronged, rejected party like that makes him seem and the hints at the complication of the dynamic between them. I love the bit about Ryan and sex and instruments and perfect and Brendon's varying reaction to it. I love how sullen and stubborn Ryan is - which is an odd thing to like a character for, really, yet somehow it makes me want things to work out so much. The last part with the fires was so perfectly ominous, and I so love Spencer turning up, and then the end begins to release the pressure and it's lovely.

I love the relationship between Brendon and Ryan, how prickly Ryan is, how Brendon is not quite a reliable narrator. And that ending scene between Ryan and Spencer, oh, oh. The atmosphere here is also very well done, the slow, steady, unnerving build until you realize how bad it actually is. Well done.
