Oh gosh, this is fabulous. Parts of it hurt so much to read, especially how broken McCoy was and how he got that way, and the way his relationship wit Kirk had grown almost toxic to both of them. Your Chekov was absolutely charming though, optimistic and generous without being a pushover -- just what this McCoy needed. Really nice writing here too, smart and understated. Enjoyed!

Thank you so much! I like your interpretation of Chekov - I feel like McCoy being such an unreliable narrator kind of fogged up Chekov's motivations for a while there and I was a little worried about how he'd come off, ultimately. I'm so glad to hear that the story read right to you. :D
