fic: What a Pretty Foal

Nov 16, 2007 17:15

I've been holding onto this for like, a week, because I wanted to go over it with the sanity of a few days off tucked under the old belt, but I feel like such a slacker when it comes to my own petty version of mininanowrimo that I need to post SOMETHING. If I get nothing done tonight - which I won't, because Owen Pallett and me will be making sweet ( Read more... )

....

There is not enough hand flailing in the WORLD. JESUS.

I just... ugh, THANK YOU. I love this Jo, I just LOVE HER. She's strong without being a cliche, without the immature edge that made me dislike canon a bit. I like this because it feels so real, that it aches in a strange way because it's all unspoken. To me, this universe feels as real as canon, but fleshed out in a way that almost makes me like it more than canon.

I would seriously write ANYTHING to get you to continue this. Damn, I would DO anything :P

Hallelujah! Oh god, yes please. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tension between Dean and Jo to a sort of unhealthy degree. Grr, I hate you - I always sound like a total idiot when I try to leave feedback for you :P

I AM ALSO RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY THAT I CAN DO THINGS TO YOUR COCKLES. :P

PREENING. YOU SOUND LIKE A PERFECTLY RATIONAL PERSON TO ME.

And my comments to you are always ridiculously inarticulate and never capture what I want to tell you about your sexy world-creation abilities.

My cockles. You are welcome to them!

Yeah, I didn't think things were going to be headed anywhere good for Jo and Ellen given where the previous story ended. I liked that reference to her memory of the iron's hiss and the way she thinks about her father's calls.

I just need you to know: my headband's starting to get smelly 'cause I wear it so much during my one minute dance parties and term-paper-chic fashion shows. I really really love it, Brooke. I wore it to the concert last night so that everyone would remember that my name is either paige or daige if they forgot. <3 <3 <3

And I'm glad I hit the right note - I was ambivalent. Gas station grunge was a risky take on the Proulxing, I thought. BUT AS LONG AS YOU LIKE IT, ALPHA READER.

Oh, man. I thought the first one was powerful; this is nasty and powerful, too.

I shall have to go back and reread them together. So well-written, so evocative, so creative in the way you're turning canon on its head. Can't wait to see where you take this.
