restaurant cards & food

This year, I've been collecting restaurant business cards. It started over the summer in California when the people I worked with took me to this nice restaurant for a good-bye lunch, and so I just snagged a business card to mark the moment. Then I realized I had actually been grabbing business cards sporadically over the past four years. I have ( Read more... )

"Anyway, the Babe Ruth card of restaurant business cards is definitely my Il Latini one. No plastic-y material for the "Kitchen of Tuscany," no way. This is heavyweight paper to write letters on with a watercolor painting of the restaurant. The paper has these little textured ridges on it oh, BABY"

My sister loooves paper. Her major is graphic design so when she picks up a postcard or something, she goes on about what type of paper & varnish, and all that other geeky stuff was used.

Where is Magnolia? In California? I always see people talk about that place on the Internet. If i ever go to NYC, i will stop by that cupcake shop you linked to. :))

OH! Do you remember i told you about a "heavy metal pizza place" here in Austin? WELL, they moved and now it's actually called HEAVY METAL PIZZA PLACE. Just thought i'd update you... for some reason. :P

HAHA. I have never heard of Fat Bastard wine. :|

omg that is so awesome. I WISH I knew more about paper. I love smelling books, but I can't tell whether it's the paper or the ink that makes the books smell different.

Magnolia is in New York, and everyone wants to hit Magnolia b/c it was featured in Sex & the City apparently, and it's basically considered the most famous cupcakery place in the city. I guess I'll go sometime soon just so I can have an opinion on it, but I've heard that it's overrated :X Sugar Sweet Sunshine cupcakes I have eaten, and they're SO GOOD. Moist, not TOO sweet, perfect :D

OMG YES I remember! I was VERRYYY interested b/c I thought it was in NYC :P And dammit! I should've told my sister b/c she went to stay with her roommate in Houston, but they drove to Austin for a day. I was super jealous b/c I've always wanted to visit Texas. Hopefully someday soon!

In my apartment when I was a junior/senior, my roommate and I had menus tacked up on one whole wall of our kitchen so that reminds me of you collecting business cards. :D The trouble with menus though is that upscale restaurants are less likely to have a menu so you can order their takeout stir fry or something. You can/should also start a Yelp account! It's how I remember the places I've been to.

This post made me hungry! ALSO, LET'S CHAT SOON. Are you busy this weekend?

Ahh, Yelp! I hear so much about it! That is a good idea, but I'm so lazy about having to create an account I have to sign in and out of. There's also Foodist Colony, which I intended to sign up for months ago but again, have been too lazy :P

Love the menu idea! We have that too, but it's tacked up all over the fridge...we need more magnets. Some of the upscale restaurants don't have takeout/delivery, but they do have menus just for you to look at...I think.

Not too busy! Let's talk! :D :D
