I guess the riddle is to figure out why God got pissed off at Mississippi and Louisiana and Florida and not California or Massachussets or New York.

Sure. It's still totally insane by any modern standard. But if you have to pick a moral reason 'cause you're into that kind of causality...

Actually, having just done a quick tour of the web, I can see citations for a few people saying that we're being punished for forcing Israel to pull out of Gaza, but nothing about abortion or homosexuals.

Of course, it's much easier to find the claims that Katrina is a direct consequence of our environmental gluttony and our warmongering administration, so I guess the liberals win this round of interpreting the weather as a moral event.

hmmm...

if that is true, then why did the hurricane strike in the Bible Belt rather than in Massachusettes or Vermont, where the liberal pinko commies live?
