It would be a lot more absurdist-funny if O'Reilly and his "expert" weren't riffing off a much more fucked up story. Courtesy of Workers World News, which is the most detailed coverage I've seen:
On June 14, four African-American women-Venice Brown (19), Terrain Dandridge (20), Patreese Johnson (20) and Renata Hill (24)-received sentences ranging from three-and-a-half to 11 years in prison. None of them had previous criminal records. Two of them are parents of small children.
Their crime? Defending themselves from a physical attack by a man who held them down and choked them, ripped hair from their scalps, spat on them, and threatened to sexually assault them-all because they are lesbians.
Last fall, a group of black lesbians in NYC were sexually harrassed on the street and decided to defend themselves with knives; they ended up stabbing the guy. They were friends of Sakia Gunn, a 15-year old black lesbian who was killed a few years ago when she stood up to street harrassment of a very similar kind. In any case, the 4 women were

It's sort of a man bites dog story, if the "man" in this case was a werewolfsubstituteJuly 8 2007, 22:35:06 UTC
Unfortunately, gaybashing and miscarriages of justice are common. That's a terrible story but not a surprising one.
Pistol packing lesbian gangs spreading out across the country forcing children into the homosexual lifestyle, however, is just fucking hilarious. I picture the "security consultant" literally locked in his closet, clutching his regulation blued-steel pistol and praying the lesbanians don't come in and force him, no really FORCE him to accept the "lifestyle."
If we let John Waters direct it, we'd get an awesome 2007 riff on 1960s exploitation flicks, perhaps with Colbert as the TV anchor.
I think O'Reilly has either completely snapped, or has decided to see just how far he can go. Or both.
The judge made clear that he believed the women, ages 19 to 25 and all from Newark, N.J., were guilty. He said a surveillance tape of the fight was 'damning' and 'I believe that but for the videotape there would have been an acquittal.'
Then WWN says:
A video camera from a nearby store shows the women walking away. He followed them, all the while hurling anti-lesbian slurs, grabbing his genitals and making explicitly obscene remarks. The women finally stopped and confronted him. A heated argument ensued. Buckle spat in the face of one of the women and threw his lit cigarette at them, escalating the verbal attack into a physical one.
Buckle is seen on the video grabbing and pulling out large patches of hair from one of the young women. When Buckle ended up on top of one of the women, choking her, Johnson pulled a small steak knife out of her purse. She aimed for his arm to stop him from killing her friend.
I have no idea. Since the WWN piece is so much more obviously on the side of the 4 women, and the AP piece is relatively content-free, we're left to guess what's actually in the video. I haven't looked for it on Youtube yet.
