I love the fact that my job occasionally involves me saying, in dead seriousness, things like "If I remember correctly, there was a big bot war going on around that time... NetSky vs pretty much everyone else, I think. That would explain the spike in this graph."

For some reason that amuses me greatly.

Yeah, that was with bots that are relatively harmless by today's standards... Now they travel like viruses, and they try to steal everybody's bank account info and then the bot herders empty the accounts. Ah, for the good old days when they were merely irritating :)
