wasn't it fantastic? And didn't you love Daniel Day Lewis throwing knives at Cameron Diaz?

i love history...
i didnt like the movie due to the blood and gore...it just seemed a bit much....
but i will say...i was amazed at how much it was real in relation to the sentiments of the north towards the civil war era...
i think people want to cast the south as evil and the north as this stoic pro-black group...it wasnt that easy...history never is!

I'm learning to love it as well. Finding a deep passion for it as a matter of fact. And the movie was gory. But it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the slasher films that I've accidentally seen.

yeah, history is something that the winners and those in power get to write but it isnt always the way we learn in school...
i just thought the movie was worse than it had to be, violence for cviolence sake....
accidentally huh hehehe i stopped watching horror movies in like 96, just dont need to be anymore afraid of bumps in the dark than i already am

i just read a book called Hiroshima, it was a detailed description of the lives of 6 people who survived the bomb. It was amazing to see history from the eyes and words of those who lived it. There was not really any political agenda to it so that made it refreshing. If you are at all interested, it is a short read, like maybe 150 paperback pages.

I amcurrently getting into some pre-reformation england history stuff...
enjoy

No. Really. Accidentally. LOL I quite serious. D will pick something out and I frequently have no idea what he's put into the DVD player until he turns it on. The TV is *his*. He allows me to watch it with him. ; >

And the books sounds good! I'll look it up here in a bit and put it on my list. I'm in the process of reading some fiction-with great authentic Scottish-coming-to-what-will-be-America books (pre, during and post war).

The link is not to the article I posted in my files in “Living It,” but it does point out some of the problems with the film. Unfortunately I did not save the article that exposes all of the flaws in Scoresese’s alleged history.

I didn't post what I meant well. I thought the movie was going to be total fiction. So it was a surprise to me that there was *any* history in the movie.

I wondered why the "worker" wasn't represented in the movie. It was like all anyone did was steal, fight and ... well ... ya know.

Thank you for the links.

Read the great book the film was based on - here. I also really liked Gotham which is terrific!
