Subaru/Shota drabbles. 50/6-7

I am pretty much writing those in slow-motion xD But nothing I can really do about it.
Enjoy!

Fluff. A bit of angst. G rated.

I own nothing.

6. style

Hina eyed the colorful sight placed before his eyes rather sarcastically. “So, Yasuda, tell me again how THAT is supposed to be stylish?”

Shota flushed not really knowing how to respond to Hina’s question. He himself had felt quite confident in the morning when walking out the door with his current outfit- green sneakers, bright yellow pants, a light mocha-colored t-shirt with “The life which bounced” written in green letters in front of it and to top all that he was wearing a jacket in lighter shade of green with tiny colorful spots on it.

He first started to feel a little uneasy about his choice of clothing when Ryo had stopped in the middle of the hallway and stared at him with his mouth literally agape. Well at least Ryo hadn’t made any nasty remarks, but no one ever expected Hina to keep his mouth shut about anything.

The way he was gazing at him disapprovingly with his arms crossed on his chest made Shota feel really uncomfortable. “I… um...” he stammered.

“I think he looks like a cupcake,” said Subaru as he came and wrapped his hand around the red-cheeked boy’s shoulders.

Hina raised an eyebrow. “A cupcake?”

“Yes a strawberry cupcake, with sugary icing and colorful sprinkles on top,” Subaru mused and then gave Shota a quick kiss on the lips. “And tastes like one too!” he announced grinning widely.

That made Hina roll his eyes. “Jeez, you two get a room,” he grunted and hurriedly went back to eating his bento so he wouldn’t witness them kissing for any longer.

7. insomnia

Shota wasn’t really surprised to find Subaru standing on his doorstep at 2am in the morning. He knew the other one long enough to have become used to his quirks and the late hour visits that took place from time to time. But recently those visits had become more frequent.

“You weren’t sleeping yet, were you?” he asked with a guilty glint in his voice. His breath rose in steam in the cold nigh air. Shota noted that the older man was dressed far too lightly.

“No. Come in,” he said stepping aside and allowing him to enter. “I’ll make you some tea to warm you up,” he added as he disappeared towards the kitchen leaving Subaru alone to get rid of his jacket.

He filled the kettle with water and heaved it on the stove with a sigh. It was late and the truth was he was rather tired, but he wasn’t going to let it show. He was just the type of person to put everyone else before himself. And maybe, just maybe he had been waiting for him.

He didn’t even realize that he had spaced out in front of the stove. Cold arms wrapped around his waist from behind and Subaru rested his head on his shoulder. Shota closed his eyes as Subaru’s warm breath brushed against his neck.

“I’m sorry,” Subaru whispered. “I just couldn’t sleep. I can leave if you want me to.”

Shota shook his head. “No, it’s okay.”

But was it really okay being like this? It felt so right when Subaru hugged him like that and Shota wasn’t going to deny him much of anything when he was feeling lonely. And he liked the feeling how each one of his touches made his heart beat faster.

They remained motionlessly until the water started to boil and the kettle let out a piercing whistle. Shota switched off the gas. Somehow Subaru seemed to have grown heavier leaning against him than he did a couple of moments ago.

“Subaru…”

“Hmh?” a pair of sleepy eyes met his.

“Let’s go to sleep.” He took Subaru’s hand in to his own and led him to the bedroom.

It was okay for Subaru to come to him looking for comfort in those late hours and it was okay for Shota to give it to him. It was okay for Shota to make them tea even though they never got to drinking it. Under the sheltering covers of the night it was okay to hold each other… every touch, every whisper and every kiss felt so right… just how it should always be.

But was it okay for Subaru to tell him he loved him when every morning they would wake up and pretend that those late night visits were never real?
