Interview with a Director (a possible interest in TWEWY sequel?)

Jan 22, 2009 21:31

Okay, it's not really news, but it's something.

IGN interviewed Tatsuya Kando, the director of our beloved TWEWY. In this interview, Kando expresses some interest in a sequel, but perhaps not to DS, but rather, the Wii console. You can read the full interview here:

I don't have a Wii, so that would make me sad... But Yay! A sequel would be awesome. XD

Thanks for sharing. ~~

I do have the consoles, if there were some kind of sequel, but I rather a full blown manga series or an anime series for TWEWY. Hell, next month there's a Takarazuka play for Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban. A Subarashiki Kono Sekai/TWEWY Takarazuka play would be epic as well. (Also, I would want Tsukigumi/Moon Troupe to cast it because I'm a Kiriyan fangirl and she would make an awesome Joshua is besides the point...)

Yeah... Silly thoughts there. ^^

I dunno . . . I really dislike the tie-in manga that does exist. It treats Neku as your standard RPG everyman dumbass instead of, y'know, Neku.

Wow, I'd love to get a sequel to TWEWY, but I have no idea how they would go about making one. I mean, the story in TWEWY pretty much wrapped itself up, leaving only a couple of holes that I don't think would make for much of a game... unless you're talking about a prequel. Because knowing more about Josh and/or Hanekoma's past would be pretty badass. But if they're planning on a sequel, my guess is that they would do it with different characters in a different setting.

I'd still go out and buy it like the rabid fangirl that I am, though 8D

I'm thinking it could be done if you took Neku and then dumped him into one of the alternate realities. It'd be a nice, in-game way of justifying why he's level zero again - different world, different world rules and he has to learn how they work.

That could work, true. Hopefully Squeenix would have the sense to add the "different world rules" bit, too. I mean, I love me some TWEWY, but if they're going to do a sequel I would hope that it wouldn't just be the exact same game but with different dialogue, you know?

... And I really hope that they toss in an "Another Day" equivalent somewhere. That little addition simply made my day when I got to it XD

I... I'm not complaining, but I must admit I'm kind of baffled. I knew that it did very well abroad but I was under the impression that it didn't sell well in Japan.

But damn, a sequel would be absolutely fucking awesome.

I fear all Squeenix sequels based purely off past precedent.

Yeah, I just keep thinking about FPS missions, Shiki and Rhyme in those D+B bikinis and Joshua admitting that Neku made him feel like he had a heart.

I wouldn't mind it if we didn't see these characters again tbh

flidget_jerome was giving me some highlights from the tie-in comic, and I nearly headdesked myself through a wall.
