Heheh, yeah, I like both versions, too. I think it's just that I listened to the Japanese version way before, so the meaning of the lyrics has had more time to sink in. XD;

I love both of them really, but I'm slightly favoured towards the English version (despite the slightly odd turns of phrase at points) since that was the one I heard first~. I do like that the two are so similar though - from the snatches of Japanese I could identify I'd listen to the Japanese and be like "Isn't that pretty much the same as the English?" every few lines, but seeing a comparison like this is awesomesauce ♥♥♥

Yeah, I heard the Japanese version first. XD;
I'm glad she keeps it mostly the same, too.

I thought it'd be interesting to see the minor changes in the lyrics (and how they change the meanings of parts of the song). ^^

♥ Nice comparison~!

I like how the two lyrics only have subtle differences. :D The feel is the same, which is nice. I definitely like both, but I'm a bit partial to the English version since I heard it first. xD;
I love this song. JYONGRI has a lovely voice. :)

I looooove both versions. @_@ Jyongri's voice is just so soothing and well suited for the song. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. XD

...Sorry to ask, but you don't happen to have a download for the english version, do you? >_>

I won't link it directly to you, but if you go check the tags under "download: music," you'll find it. ^^ (part of the reason I worked on the tags was for this purpose of finding things easily =D)

Oooh, I was waiting for someone to do a comparison. 8D

I personally liked the sound of the English version better, but the Japanese version seems to have the better lyrics. Nevertheless, the lyrics are so much more consistent than the English versions of Hikari or Passion.

Jyongri did a subjective translation of the song, keeping intact the core ideas of the song, whereas Hikki just rewrote all of Hikari to better suit the English language. (And face it, a subjective translation of Hikari wouldn't work in English at all.)

Sanctuary was written first, but she had a hard time writing Sanctuary and Passion anyways that she seems to make it out to be a miracle that she even wrote both songs.

Oh yes, I definitely liked Simple and Clean better, but it didn't make as much sense as the original Japanese version did. I'm not saying Hikki did a bad job or anything, but some parts of Simple and Clean didn't seem to make much literal sense.

I didn't understand Sanctuary at all. I think it was the hype of the song before it came out that led me to be disappointed. .___. I couldn't tell the relevance that it had with KHII (which apparently it was suppose to have), and the song itself was sung like she had a cold or something.

Simple and Clean is still a favourite of mine, though. xD I wonder if Hikki will be performing songs for the three new KH games or not? o.o

Ha ha. Sanctuary is a bit of a stretch, but the first and last verses are the key:

I watch you fast asleep
All I fear means nothing

You showed me how to see
That nothing is whole and nothing is broken
