Secret Santa 2011

Oct 21, 2011 23:33

Hey everyone! It seems to be that time of the year again, and as an exchange seems to be tradition here, I’m poised to deliver. Excited?

So what is going on here?
A Secret Santa is a fanworks exchange. It’s pretty simple: you post a comment with things you’re willing to write/draw and things you’d like to get as drawn/written gifts. I then pair you up, you write/draw someone a gift while someone is writing/drawing a gift for you, and then they’re posted. Everyone has fun!

Hey, that sounds cool. Anything else I need to know?

1. How long do I have to sign up?
You’ll have from now, 10/21/11 until 11/04/11 (about two weeks) to sign up. You should get your assignment sometime in the following week, sooner or later depending on how much work I have.

2. How long until I need to have my gift finished?
You will have until I send your assignment (anywhere between 11/05/11 and 11/12/11) until January 2nd, 2012. You can post your gift anytime between December 1st and the deadline.

3. Where do I post it?
To the community. Posting guidelines will be up closer to the posting start date.

4. Can I just ask for something/can I just write something without offering anything in return/asking for a gift in return?
Sorry to say, but the thing about exchanges is that if you want something in return, you have to be willing to offer something too, just like a real Secret Santa. However, you can sign up just to be a pitch hitter (someone who comes in just in case someone else drops out).

5. What are the requirements for the fic/art I am giving?
Fic should be at least 800 words. Art should be cleaned up and tidy. Fancomics and multi-part fics are a-okay.

6. School/work/holidays/Reaper duty/Noise is eating me alive. I need to drop out, what do I do?
Tell me as soon as you possibly can so I can get a pitch hitter to cover your prompt.

7. I have another question you haven’t answered here.
Okay. Just comment here, PM me, or drop me an e-mail at mellybelle09@gmail.com. I’m happy to answer any and all questions.

This sounds awesome, I’m ready to sign up!
Excellent! Here’s some things you should know.

1.Make sure your prompts are at least a little flexible for fic/art.
What I mean by this is that your prompts can be used as a fic prompt and an art prompt, or you post one of each. In my experience, it really jams the gears when we have 5 artists total and 15 people asking for art-only in all their prompts. So to keep me from screaming “no one matches up” at my computer screen like a crazy person, and that everyone gets something they enjoy, make sure you follow this suggestion.

2. One of your prompts has to be gen.
Along the same lines as #1, one of your prompts must be gen (I’ll mark this on the form as a reminder). We’re on the small-side as far as communities go, so this is a safety net so we don’t get a bunch of people asking for A/B and a lot fewer people willing to write/draw for A/B. Of course, if you aren’t the shipping type, feel free to make more or all of your requests gen!

Now you’re all set! Copy the text in this little box, paste it in a comment, fill it out, and post it!
[Note]: As mentioned somewhere above, if you are only going to do a fill, meaning you’re going to be a pitch-hitter, please only fill out the “giving” section, and say “yes” where it asks if you’re willing to pitch-hit. If you are willing to be a pitch-hitter on top of getting and receiving a gift, make sure you fill out the whole form and say “yes” for the same question
