Keep those booklist suggestions coming!

The Fountain: wonderful or terrible? MC really liked it but...

("Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, The Fountain is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world." Okay, but what's it about? Or should I let the profundity wash over me ( Read more... )

Also, all those surprised by the "true identity" of the Twilight Princess, raise your hands so I can laugh at you.

SHHH. Just keep playing.

How sad is it that I miss this game almost as much as I miss my family, seeing as I couldn't finish it completely before the end of Thanksgiving break?

Oooooh, that's interesting. If Zelda wasn't Zelda, there'd be no reason to trust Midna.

(You know what's terrible about story progression, you have to keep playing even when you know your actions will backfire. (SEE: CHRONO CROSS))

It's not sad. You can call your family if you miss them, but you can't play Zelda over the phone!

...just...keep playing. 8) KEEEEEP PLAAAAYIIING.

And YES. I hate that! Oh, God, you know you're just walking into the wrong thing there, but YOU'RE GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY. You should've seen how many times I told Colin no about letting him have my sword.

A good point! Can't wait until I can finally finish up. I'm on a cliffhanger, seeing as we're off at the last dungeon, AND NOW I CAN'T SEE THE END. [sob]

/me very carefully doesn't read the Twilight Princess spoilers, because he wants a Wii, but can't afford one, dammit.

...resisting the GameCube version in the interim will be hard. =/

It's a very shiny game. And the Wii-mote is a ton of fun -- I can't imagine how certain parts of the game, which are designed to use it, work in the Gamecube version.

(Don't look at the comment above this one!)

Okay, I just got back from watching The Fountain so I can give you a better description than that one, which I think is similar to the one I'd read and is just as vague and confusing ( ... )

And when I say "want the movie," I really mean "watch the movie."

Thanks, that helps a lot. I guess the reason the publicists weren't more specific is that the satisfaction of having worked out what's going on is what makes the movie interesting? Though it also looks pretty.

I think the not-spoonfeeding and making the viewer work for it is the movie's strength. (Though it is extremely pretty. I loved the Spanish Inquisition/Spanish settings.) Of course, I'm also positive this is why the movie is getting violently mixed reviews because if you don't get this movie, you will really not get it. There are no halves here.

I do admit though, when we first dropped into the mental story time, I was seriously going, "WTF is this hallucinogenic crap?" But once the present story time framework began, I started getting what was going on. It's pretty impressive to see that many plot threads going on in one 90-minute movie. It didn't feel long, not in the dragging pace sort of way, but the movie felt full, as if it'd been packed to almost bursting. There was a lot going on.
