This really pisses me off. Really, really. Poverty my ARSE. The Catholic Church has more than enough to give back to the people they've taken so much from. It's ( Read more... )

If ever we needed a reminder of what we're fighting against... not that I think we're ever in danger of forgetting. I dearly hope that the Irish government really does do something about this. If they can make an example of this situation, then we may see some real progress.

In the meantime, I'm all for the distracting. I'll join you for the silly movies.

I hope they step up. There's no excuse for not doing it. That damn church could set those people up for life, and instead they're whinging. For fuck's sake.

That sounds perfect, my wonderful husband.

It sounds to me like they could set the whole country up for a while... in the current economic climate, the fact alone that they have so much wealth in their coffers is scandalous.

It really is.

The corruption just...it makes me feel ashamed.

My goodness. Reading that left quite a vile taste in my mouth. It's mind-bendingly disgusting how many poor children have been made to suffer by the very people who were supposed to protect them from the evils of the world. I hope the government is able to stand its ground. It's time people stopped being intimidated and victimised by the Church.

It really is, David. Hear hear.

And, to put a different spin on it, it's time for the Church to change, to screen who it allows into positions like that, and to get it's head out of it's arse. I did good work. Peter did good work. Stuart did good work and so did Robert. Why that can't be the way it always goes...it confounds me.

Absolutely. A Church made up of men and women like you would be a Church to be proud of. It's unfortunate indeed that sinister people are taking advantage of an obviously lax system. If the Church put as much effort into policing its clergy as it does into attempting to police the masses, I'm sure much of this could be avoided.

It really could. People like Abbot Brunhardt wouldn't have been given chance to do the fucking disgusting things he did. All of them. All of them shouldn't have been given that chance.

If this is such a problem, I don't understand why the church just don't allow the clergy to marry. For fuck's sake, I have never felt a more spiritual connection than I do to my spouses.
