Fic: A Greater Compliment Than Love (Merlin, PG, 2x02 tag)

This story is slightly ridiculous, but not in a funny-haha kind of way. Bear with me, I'm sure I'll manage porn or fluff sometime this century.

I like this story very much! Interesting change of POVs and a bit retrograde timeline, at least how it felt to me, most of all I liked Morgana's realisation of inevitability of Camelot's downfall and Arthur's demise.
On a more shallow note, this part I found very, true:
And the worst thing, the very worst thing is that he can't figure out which one of them he is angry with. Which one of them he wants to tear away from the other.
Oh Arthur, we know.

this was lovely - gorgeous imagery, interesting narrative style, and OT4 FTW! :D
it even leaves open the hope that their story won't follow the legends quite so closely, which i love.

I loved this part:
"Merlin thinks of Arthur stepping on his back, Arthur having him thrown in the cells, Arthur ordering him to steal dinner from the palace, and he thinks hm. He thinks of Arthur's ridiculous smile that is far too rare, his love for Camelot and her people, despite Uther's best efforts, Arthur's joy at winning the tournament, and he thinks yes. All these things rest under his skin, and he thinks oh fuck."
A perfect summation of Merlin's feelings!

This is fantastic. I love how open ended you leave it, the tone of hopeful uncertainty on Morgana's part, and Gwen's, and the feeling of love and duty in Merlin and Arthur's. The way that those feelings are echoed throughout, among all four, is beautifully executed.

This is gorgeous. It made me shiver for them -- they are all so glorious, and all so very, very young.
