Very nicely done. I love your decision to use Cedric's perspective -- a man who has a vested interest in unraveling the complexities of personalities and relationships but less interest in speaking the truth about them. It's interesting to me that Cedric has some qualms, but that's appropriate, I think. His observations about the complicated tangle that Merlin and Arthur's relationship with one another has become are subtle and intriguing, and, through those, I think you've hit on an excellent explanation for Merlin's fragility and the combustible mixture that his love for and devotion to Arthur combined with the stress of maintaining the secret of his magic and his actions on Arthur's behalf has become

DUDE! Cedric! &hearts I never thought that I would be &hearts ing Cedric, but I totally &hearts this one. He's just smart enough to see his own flaws, but not quiet smart enough to follow it all the way to the endgame.

Those two he will never fully understand, but he doubts they will either, so it's not like he's behind the curve here.
