*is incoherent* Oh this. I was in a bit of a depressed mood before, and reading this absolutely made my day. It's just so brilliant. And there are so many lovely lines that if I were to quote them all, I'd probably be c&p-ing the entire fic in this comment.

Merlin's love was no less terrible. It spanned the kingdom, perhaps the whole world, and put it at Arthur's feet.

and

He had no choice, because the terrible love in his own heart told him that no one was ever to hurt Merlin, that he would take up the sword to defend Merlin and build a kingdom where he could be happy.

Poor Merlin, although I can't help but agree with Arthur's statement. Stopping time and revealing himself as a sorcerer in front of the entire court and Uther, all to defend Arthur's virtue? Nope, not the smartest sorcerer around.

This fics is really good, because it handles the funny parts (I think Camelot's villagers have their rotten food always ready for Merlin) and the more serious ones perfectly. And it has some beautiful, very compelling lines.
