The one I'm about to post is 19,000 and I felt like that was pretty wimpy for a big bang. I'd been secretly hoping it would end up being around 30,000 but it just wasn't happening for me.

Yup. Now, I'm cool with a fic that's six thousand words long, but come on. That's no Big Bang.

I can understand that sometimes a fic doesn't want to be longer, and adding futile words here and there is just stupid, but to hold the bar so low is ridiculous.

The minimum for this one was 15,000 - which is kind of why I decided to go for it. But like I said, I thought that was even pretty low for a bb!

:) Before I got to school and had to face a gazillion papers I need to write, I was thinking of spending this November typing like a maniac. 50 000 words is a lot, but it's not impossible... Oh well. Maybe some year.

That's... kind of a low (heavy sarcasm) word count for a big bang. But I can sort of understand it, considering what happened to the historical rpf big bang, set at 20k - two finishers, out of a field of 34.
True, medium-sized bang doesn't quite have the same ring to it!

This is a smallish fandom too, so it's really no wonder the word count is so small. But last year they had a *real* big bang, and there were loads of finishers (and the fics were good!).

Small Bang challenge would be kinda funny too...

Six thousand... My current fic is eight thousand and the main character haven't even spoken yet ;)

*cough* Though I must admit there are some crossovers that actually work. If Henry and Montjoy worked so well in paleolithic times, it might just work here as well...
