Thank heavens, I missed it. Movies make me so angry. Especially movies that Niles thinks are good. Movies suck, their utterly ridiculous plots make me angry. The fact that all movies are exactly the same, some simply do it better or worse, makes me hate them. There are only a few movies, which defy convention, and those can be entertaining, but oh the rest of them. GRRRRR
I dunno. I'm not sure that my purist self could look past the butchery of the story. From what I've read (and by that I mean the review in the paper), the movie and the book don't actually have anything to do with each other.
I mean, I don't even know how a cinema version of the book would work. It has the most anticlimactic conclusion I've ever read. So any attempt to connect it to a movie seems like it would devalue the book and hence make the movie blasphemy.
Just one more reason to hate War of the Worlds that I forgot about. Its based on a book. Movies based on books always screw the whole thing over. Every time. That isnt to say there aren't any movies based on books that aren't enjoyable. But they always destroy what the book originally did, that made the book great. GRRRR... movies.... based on books. HOW CAN YOU NOT HATE THEM?
