Very style of aikido was odd, very much like jujutsu, no weapons, no focus on multiple attachers, but the differences between Iwama and Yoshinkan are interesting - the names of the techniques are the same, but the techniques themselves are a world apart. They still have the concept of keeping everything in the very centre of your body, and capturing the overall balance + not focusing on just a limb, but since there's no sword, they throw the uke out. Their nikyo is great, and we did that interesting one which is like shihonage but the uke's hand is straight. You should check out Joe Thambu and Yoshinkan sometime just for fun, he moves really differently from Iwama people, very gracefully, and seems like a nice guy.
I ♥ seminars, and there's almost always something social on after = fun.
