I have a suggestion. Do you still have my phone number? I'm pretty much an expert at crappy thoughts and I might be able to listen and give you feedback. But I'd only feel comfortable with you calling me if you still had that phone plan where it wouldn't cost you anything. If you don't I'll try to put down some suggestions in an email. Let me know.

First things first, go on craiglist and begin job-hunting. If you find a good job you can quiet downyour mom, and if you have a good job you'll get positive reinforcement from your co-workers, rather than the neurotic negativity emanating from your family, which isn't helping.

craiglist eh? Hmm, haven't heard of that one. Thanks for the tip!

I really hate to be one of those people who wines about his parents and family and stuff, but... Goddammit! I gotta vent sometime.

You have every right to vent, so don't worry. But the best way out of your funk is to occupy yourself with something fulfilling. Your family isn't cutting it, so try a change of jobs, or take up a hobby that puts you in contact with other people. Best of luck!

P.S. I hope that I didn't give the impression of complaining about your venting--the "neurotic negativity emanating from your family" part was aimed at your family, not you.

I'm sorry that you have to go through all this, you're too young to have to feel this kind of pressure. Finding a new job is one of the hardest and most frustrating things I've ever done, but if you can get a new one, it will help things. May I also suggest checking with some temp/perm agencies?
