In other news, we're going to nicaragua in the spring for a whirlwind tour (inspired by you!). Clothing-wise, is it okay to just wear shorts and t-shirts, or do we need to bring something else? I know that when we were in Egypt and other countries, the people could be conservative and we were told not to wear shorts or short sleeved shirts in mosques, etc, so I didn't know if there was anything culturally equivalent to that there.

Latin America is a lot like a Latin music video - hot, spicy, and if there is no girl in hot-pants in sight, there must be something wrong. Sure you mustn't disrespect places of worship with skimpy outfits, but I bet you wouldn't do that anyway.
We, as usual, don't have a sure plan about transportation in Kenya - we'll see what their wildlife authority says, and then decide. In Ethiopia we'll rent a car for sure.
