So Burundi is a stopping point?

I'm so jealous of the banknote collection!

So is she just carrying a palm frond on her head or does it serve some other purpose?

the women here carry anything and everything on their heads. I once saw woman carry a change purse on her head.

Do you collect banknotes as well? I'll try to photograph and show my collection when I get the chance.

Burundi was not a stopping point for us. We just went through it to get to where we needed in Tanzania.

I collect bank notes when we travel, but I always thought it would be cool to have a big collection of them, and once read about a guy who has more than 20,000 of them! I think this is his site... http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/

Very interesting, as usual! I just thought of something I wanted to ask - what do you reply when people ask where you are from? US? Russia? :)

when asked by other foreigners, I usually indicate that it's a loaded question and proceed to telling the whole story - originally from Ukraine, childhood in Israel (or sometimes I'll say "the middle east" depending who is asking), Uni in the States, traveling since November '05, for all intent and purpose - citizen of the world ;) .
If it's a local, I say Russia, just not to get things complicated.
