Wow, how backwards sounding! You have a lot of patience for these places! So, despite everything you went through, would you recommend them to see, or pass, there are plenty of other places with the same sites that are better?

Logistics in Congo are not nonexistent, public transportation works after all (kinda), but organizing something like a tour, and expecting not to have any glitches is still not realistic. The reason we were going to these sites specifically, was because they are the best - we never climb a mountain just to get to the peak, and we never go out of our way to see a country unless it holds something extraordinary. We are not sorry for going (we never are), but now we have a better understanding of that part of Africa. We have already decided that we'll be back with a 4x4 of our own, and hoping that they will get it together a bit more by that time so we can not only rough it out and see what we came to see, but also recommend it to other people who don't have the time or the nerve to deal with it all the way it is now.
Hehe, when I got to the "... There wasn't a day at Brazzaville when we didn't run into somebody new who spoke the Russian language" line, a monkey appeared at the down of the page... Is it a "Russian spoken" fellow too?
