The Liberals and NDP already threatened another election, so the Conservatives have backed off of this proposal.

That's good, although Flaherty is still talking like he is planning to re-introduce it later on down the road. $30 million sounds like a lot, but it is a drop in the bucket of the federal budget. The only reason they are making a big deal out of this is because they know that it will weaken the other political parties. I'll be interested to see if they try to make it fly again later on...
